Hunan Beef
Ingredients:
3/4 pounds lean beef
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 red chilli, de-seeded and finely chopped
1 teaspoon corn flour mixed with 1 1/2 teaspoons water
1 green bell pepper, seeded cored and sliced
1 onion, sliced
Marinade:
2 teaspoons corn flour
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon rice wine or dry sherry
Sauce:
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoons sesame oil
1 tablespoon rice wine or dry sherry
1 tablespoon chilli sauce
2 to 3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce (optional)
Preparation:
1. Mix the marinade ingredients in a small bowl and add the beef. Coat well and set aside for 15 minutes.
2. Mix the sauce ingredients in a bowl and set aside.
3. Heat the wok to high and add 2 tablespoons oil. Stir-fry the beef for about 2 minutes until browned then remove.
4. Add the pepper, onion and garlic to the wok and stir-fry for 1 minute.
5. Add the beef and sauce mixture.
6. Bring to a boil and add the corn flour mixture. Stir until sauce thickens .Serve hot with rice or noodles.
